Biography
Believing I should pursue an academic career I left my art studies at the end of year 10 in high school. After tertiary studies I qualified as an Occupational Therapist specialising in Ergonomics, and followed this career for almost 10 years. I then changed direction to pursue a career in sales and marketing, hoping this would satisfy my craving for a more creative and artistic outlet.
After attending a two month course in life drawing in May/June 2001 I realised that I had neglected an integral part of myself. In July 2001 the move was made to self employment which included the aim to allow the freedom to accommodate my reawakening passion in the arts. This eventuated and I enrolled fulltime in the Advanced Diploma of Fine Arts, at The Sydney Gallery School, Meadowbank TAFE, in February 2002. This was the best career decision I had made in almost 20 years. For 2008 I have accepted a position with the Charlie Sheard Studio School to further develop my oil painting skills.
I have been involved in several group exhibitions. My first solo exhibition commenced in May 2005 at the Annabel Wallace Gallery, in the country town of Young. My second solo exhibition opened, again at the Annabel Wallace Gallery, in July 2006. My third solo exhibition is planned for 2008.
My main inspirations come from my strong connection with the country, its people and the land on which I grew up. I also have a fervent interest in the Impressionist era of painting. I enjoy using oil paints, occasionally acrylics, and most all drawing mediums. Printmaking is also a strong area of interest, particularly etching, serigraphs and lithography. My interest in photography often overlaps all these areas.
